First whole human liver built in lab

Some smart folks just down the street at Wake Forest University built, for the first time ever, miniature human livers.  The collagen scaffolds used to build the livers were taken from ferrets.  They plan to use larger scaffolds from pigs to create transplant-sized organs.

Soon, you can add “new livers” to the list of stuff pigs provide us, right next to insulin and, most importantly, bacon.
